Living in Macedonia, Ohio
Macedonia, in northern Summit County, is all about convenience. Interstates 271 and 480, State Routes 8 and 82 and the Ohio Turnpike are all close by, and both Cleveland Hopkins and Akron-Canton airports are about 25 miles away. That makes commutes north, south or east straightforward.
The city's centerpiece is Longwood Park on East Aurora Road, one of the largest city-owned parks in Ohio at roughly 300 acres. It has a stocked fishing lake with a pier, miles of hiking and walking trails, ball diamonds and athletic fields, pavilions and a playground. The Macedonia Family Recreation Center, with fitness space and swimming pools, is in the park too. So is the Longwood Manor House, built in 1924 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
Macedonia is also a short drive from Cuyahoga Valley National Park, including the 60-foot Brandywine Falls in neighboring Sagamore Hills, plus the Towpath Trail and Summit Metro Parks' Bike & Hike Trail.
Public schools are part of the Nordonia Hills City School District, which includes Nordonia High School, Nordonia Middle School, Lee Eaton Intermediate and three elementary schools.
