Bedford Heights
Living in Bedford Heights, Ohio
Bedford Heights is a Cuyahoga County city that was founded in 1951 from parts of Bedford Township and the City of Bedford. Its best-known advantage is access. Interstates 271 and 480 meet right in town, so getting to downtown Cleveland or around the east side doesn't take much effort.
The Bedford Heights Community Center on Perkins Road is a real community hub. It has an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna, a fitness room and weight room, an indoor track, a basketball court, racquetball courts, batting cages and a senior center, with ball fields and a playground right next door. In summer, Reed Park adds an outdoor pool, basketball courts and a pavilion.
For bigger outdoor adventures, Cleveland Metroparks' Bedford Reservation is close by. It covers more than 2,800 acres and includes Tinker's Creek Gorge, a National Natural Landmark, plus the Bridal Veil Falls overlook, hiking, mountain biking and bridle trails, and Shawnee Hills Golf Course.
Bedford Heights is also home to the Kol Israel Foundation Holocaust Memorial at Zion Memorial Park. It was dedicated in 1961 and recognized as a national memorial in 2022.
Most of the city is served by the Bedford City School District. Small portions fall within the Orange City School District, so I always recommend checking a specific address.
